IMPROVING EAST TEXAS GAY LIFE, KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING!
Special Health Resources for Texas began as AIDS Inc, the community response to the AIDS epidemic late 80s. Initially, AIDS Inc provided social support to HIV positive individuals and their families, but soon, the organization assumed a role leading role in providing medical care, emergency assistance and case management and other supportive services to HIV positive individuals across 23 counties of northeast Texas. The original name was changed to Special Health Resources for Texas, Inc. to reflect its broadened mission and services.
Over the past two decades, SHRT has grown into a comprehensive health care system in East Texas, providing affordable care for the whole family.
